Supporting Reading At Home
Accessing our library services from home
The children have regular opportunities to change their books at school, however if your child would like to request a book from the library, please do so using our book a book system.
In order to access the system, all your child needs to do is to complete a short form. Mrs Sands will then select a book for your child to read and will deliver it to their class.
The links to the forms are here:
Mrs Sands is contactable via the school office if you would like some advice on supporting your child’s reading or some recommendations for books.
Advice for parents on supporting reading at home
Over the pandemic, Mrs Sands made this useful video for parents about how to support their child’s reading at home. The advice in the video provides great tips for helping your child to read at home.
Here is a list of fantastic websites that provide support for reading at home:
Family Learning courses
The school works with Aspire Sussex to run Free Family Learning courses for parents of children in the school. Keep your eyes open for our Chatterpacks, Fun with Phonics and Developing the Reading Experience courses which are a great way to learn how to further support your child to become an independent reader and to develop a love of books.
