Late Night Christmas Shopping Event

We were thrilled to have so many parents and children join us at Steyning’s late night Christmas shopping event.

Mrs Harrison and Mrs Griffin joined the children from Steyning and Upper Beeding Primaries.

Mrs Pargeter said how well the children sung their five carols which included ‘ The twelve days of Christmas‘ and’ Rudolf’.

Father Christmas led the procession down the High Street in a vintage car.

New Nations Week

Earlier this year, as part of our New Nations Week, some of the best artists in the school got to work alongside Nadia Chalk. They created a fantastic piece of art inspired by our work on British Values and our own identity.

Author Visit

Earlier this year, years 3 and 4 were very excited to have a visit from local author Sam Watkins. Sam is the author of the Darcy Dolphin stories as well as the Creature Teacher series. The newest book in the Darcy Dolphin series is The Fintastic Diary of Darcy Dolphin - a brilliantly funny and beautifully illustrated story. It tells of a young dolphin and her underwater adventures. These include, getting her first pet, auditioning for the role of Finderella in the school play and solving a mystery on the reef. Sam read the first few chapters to the children and talked about where her story ideas came from.

Sam told us she has always loved dolphins and as a very young child, she was convinced there was a real dolphin swimming around her local pond and she wished she could own it as her pet! Sam spent time chatting about other sea creatures and the children were very keen to ask questions and share their own knowledge. The children really enjoyed their visit and were very keen to buy and read more of Sam’s books. It was a great way to encourage them to read for enjoyment and pleasure.
